Daniel Schaffer

As part of the Finance governance organization, we're enabling group companies to exchange services efficiently and in compliance with internal and external standards. Besides that, we're supporting our business partners to claim public funds for research projects or to participate in public tenders.

My first full-time employment was in the cash management team of Daimler’s global treasury department located in the headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. I worked on a variety of strategic assignments that aimed at improving the group’s cash management infrastructure as well as the concentration of global liquidity.

As part of the cooperative study program at Daimler I was employed and received salary from the first day of my studies. The program includes a 3-month internship following each theoretical semester as well as company internal team and leadership trainings/ seminars.

For my Bachelor thesis I joined Daimler's treasury and analysed the impact of financial market regulation on the company's risk management activities. My work measured the qualitative and quantitative impact of regulation on hedging with financial derivatives. The focus of this analysis was Basel III, respectively its implementation in Europe through the European Union's CRD IV (Capital Requirements Directive IV).

Summer internship at MBtech North America, a former Daimler subsidiary specialising in engineering services. I interned as an assistant to the CFO and performed analyses regarding the contribution margins of different projects.

Summer internship in the global sales management division of Mercedes-Benz Vans. My assignments included analysing the outlook and opportunities on core markets.

My first internship as part of the cooperative study programme at Daimler AG was in the procurement division of the group. My team was responsible for the procurement of fuel cell powertrains.
