Lsc B and Lsc C are 2 highly similar genes in Pseudomonas syringae that code for the enzyme levansucrase, which is described as being a very robust enzyme that is essential for the pathogenicity of Pseudomonas. The goal of the experiment was to generate the knockout mutants, which would then be used for characterization and further research.
