I’m a data engineer who helps the aluminum rolling and recycling leader Novelis with bridging the technological gap between its legacy data systems and the modern cloud. I have a technical understanding of the data and the aluminum industry through my experience as a process engineer and my metallurgical engineering education.

Development and deployment of transformer-based machine learning models in Python for Natural Language Processing on Google Cloud Platform. Improvement of Optical Character Recognition performance of Tesseract OCR on German invoice documents. Development of a machine learning proof of concept for a large German IT-group.

Developed a dashboard in R and Shiny to evaluate process control performance across two plants in Germany. Developed a dashboard in R and Shiny to estimate the tapped metal mass from individual ovens based on a tapping vehicle’s total mass. Developed two process control modules in C through model based design with Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow.

Board member of an international alumni organization: Oversaw strategic and coordination operations, links to EIT RawMaterials and EIT Alumni. Chaired Alumni Meetings and attends meetings of the EIT Alumni Board. Prepared the meeting agenda and strategy for the board meetings. Acted as the public face of the EIT RawMaterials Alumni by presenting at events and conferences.

Introduced and established R as the de facto standard for data analysis. Convinced the company statistical reports to build and test a pilot-solution on two live electrolysis pots.
