Dr. Erik Miljan

Simply Cells was recently founded by Dr Erik Miljan to address the interface between technology and commercialisation. Dr Miljan has over 10 years’ experience in the Stem Cell Biotech sector, from intellectual property (IP) portfolio management through product development to regulatory approval. Initiated, implemented and delivered the operational and management strategy leading to the first ever stem cell based product approved for clinical trial in the United Kingdom in addition to research products.

Responsible for establishing and managing a multidisciplinary research team and facilities at ReNeuron, consisting of experts in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pre-clinical studies (in vivo testing), manufacturing, microbiology and histopathology. • Set up laboratory research facilities, tissue culture and class 10,000 clean-room suites • Responsible for human resources, staff recruitment, staff policy, contracts, appraisals, disciplinary actions, redundancies

• Research focused on the regulation of growth factor receptors and signal transduction by a class of glycolipids called gangliosides. • Discovered and published a novel mechanism of growth factor receptor mediated signal transduction in J Biol Chem and was invited to write a review article for Science. • Skills gained in protein biochemistry, post-translational modifications (phosphorylation, glycosylation) and recombinant protein expression, purification and characterization
