Guidelines for the evaluation, selection and implementation of AGVs at an automotive supplier

As part of the Femtec Network Program a team of 22 highly qualified women stem students got the chance to work with Fraunhofer IIS on a German based voice assistant. My team of 5 investigating the market opportunities for voice assistants in the area of LegalTech. We organized ourselves and our work globally in a time frame of 4 months.

Being part of the project provided a hands-on experience involving empathising with stakeholders (local community of familys and farmers, business owners, government officials and other non-government organisations), research and development of a potential solution (biodigester, rocket stove and other alternative cooking methods) and an increase in business knowledge, especially behind-the-scenes of a startup company.

The systematics of deriving projects directly from the business targets and defining the right KPIs is already standard for production but not yet for logistics. As lead plant Buehl already developed a concept for the physical logistics ready to be rolled out in the global Electrical Drive's network. With my previous experience in production and logistics I was able to adapt the concept and implement the CIP systematics in the physical logistics department in Serbia.

During my full time master at university I worked once a week in my previous departments supporting operational topics in production and physical logistics.

As a PreMaster I was responsible for: - Implementation of a new TPM strategy on shopfloor level - Training four shifts of staff on four production lines - Supporting ramp up of a manual production line My favourite part about working in production is the internal networking. At the production line all other departments connect. You need to be able to understand the multiple facades of your job, gather and distribute information and simultaneously work on projects that optimise your whole value stream.

Working for a civil engineer institute as a mechanical engineer student might sound odd but it taught me to think outside the box and get comfortable with an unknown field of study. Fastening technology is a niche area combining technologies of mechanics and building materials. Most of my tasks consisted of planning and coordinating certified trainings with our partners Hilti AG and fischer, office work and support during dynamic and static product testing.
