ACCENT is an EU-funded Network of Excellence in FP6 and started in 2004. Its objectives are to (i) promote Europe as a leader in research and education on atmospheric composition change and to (ii) develop long-lasting means of collaboration and communication in the field of atmospheric composition change within Europe and beyond. Member of the Managing Committee of ACCENT and Leader of Education Programme since 2004 incl. budget responsability and reporting to the European Commission.

Setting up own research group on climate and background ozone (cabo3), experimental studies on ozone chemistry in the free troposphere above Continental Europe (FREETEX - FREE Tropospheric EXperiments, Jungfraujoch, 3,580 m asl), teaching ozone-climate links

Research on tropospheric ozone (stratosphere-troposphere transport), work partly carried out at ECMWF (European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, Reading, U.K.
