I successfully designed a gold nanoparticle with a specific surface chemistry (using the self-assembling monolayer technique) which binds specifically the anticancer drug from the blood plasma. We expect that in a near future this nanoparticle will be used as a routine technique for monitoring the drug concentration in the blood. I also supported other group member's activities such as nanoparticles synthesis and surface modification.

Development of magnetic nanoparticles to be used as contrast agents for MRI. These nanoparticles were synthesized by a new method, which I developed. In vitro and in vivo tests demonstrate minimal toxicity and effectiveness as MRI contrast agents. Due to their unique characteristics these nanoparticles are being tested for cell homing and the in vivo experiments are ongoing. The results of this work are under preparation for publication.
