Berufserfahrung von Francesca Sgarbi

  • 4 Jahre und 6 Monate, Nov. 2021 - Apr. 2026

Researcher in Physical and Material Chemistry

    Leibniz-Institut für Festkörper- und Werkstoffforschung

During my PhD at IFW Dresden, I refined micrometer-scale copper electrodeposition using pulse plating techniques, achieving a ~50% reduction in process time while improving cost-efficiency and workflow reproducibility. I designed and evaluated over 12 thin-film multilayer architectures to define optimal characteristics for a single-step, mask-free process for nanoscale copper structuring. Surface and magnetic properties were characterized using AFM, profilometry, MOKE, and MFM to assess process performance

Intern - Inorganic Chemistry / Biomaterials,

Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia

During my internship at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, I independently prepared Ce-doped bioactive glasses, including furnace melting and annealing, and conducted subsequent simulated body fluid (SBF) soaking experiments. I performed systematic surface and solution analyses, including XRD on the glasses and ICP-OES/ICP-MS on the SBF, across multiple soaking times. I established standardized workflows to ensure reproducible and transferable analytical results. Correlating composition with bioact

    Doctor of Natural Sciences

    Technische Universität Chemnitz

In collaboration with IFW Dresden, Leibniz Institute. Studied how magnetic fields can guide the growth of copper at the micro- and nanoscale, aiming to develop more efficient and scalable fabrication methods. Demonstrated that controlling magnetic field gradients enables fine-tuning of the shape an
