As a Principal Systems Engineer on the IRS project my focus is on requirements development. I am tasked by the IRS to create both Functional and Non-Functional requirements, and to enter them into Rational RequisitePro with the correct attributes and traceability. Within RequisitePro I maintain the Business Processes, Reference Documents, Specifications, Test Cases, and Unified Work Requests.

Systems engineering activities, which include the following: concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system and software level architecting, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, system integration, system & op. performance analysis, lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, and decision analysis and resolution.

My core job is the responsibility for lethality of all of the FCS platforms and that capability as it relates to all of the FCS documentation, processes, and requirements. I ensure that only necessary and sufficient requirements are contained in FCS specification documentation. Maintain configuration management for assigned requirements throughout all specifications. Ensure that requirements are horizontally integrated across appropriate systems.

Responsible for horizontal and vertical integration of Warfighting Systems platforms throughout Future Combat Systems. Ensure Warfighting Systems (WFS) Software Organization operates within cost and schedule parameters, Support Integration Lead to ensure successful development of the WFS software products and artifacts. Support on matters of horizontal software integration (requirements, architecture, interfaces, development, integration, verification) of the FCS family of systems.

Performs engineering work in the US Army weapons/logistics domain to create, derive, decompose, and assemble requirements, sometimes developed by customers and other contractors of SAIC, in the sustainment/logistics/lethality domain into a System of Systems specification. Reviews materials prepared by customers and other contractors to determine if the content is sufficient to meet the requirements of customer.

Senior Systems Analyst on a large classified government project. Work with Rational Suite to create Software Requirement Specifications (SRS) and Software Requirement Document (SRD). JAD Facilitator and peer review moderator. Research, analysis, and coordination of Change Requests from the customer. Work with customer on a day-to-day basis to solve critical requirements issues. Senior Functional Analyst and Use Case/Requirements Analyst for the new Army Mobilization computer system. Analyze requests from the government and create Impact Analysis Reports. I maintained and updated all Requirements documents related to Mobilization to include Use Case Reports, Use Case Diagrams, Business Rule Catalogs and Concepts Catalogs. In addition, I was sent “to the field” to train U.S. soldiers (and train-the-trainer sessions) in the use of the newly developed software in various states.
