Fred Harrell

Fred Harrell is the founder and senior pastor of City Church San Francisco. There, he guides an LGBTQ-affirming progressive congregation. Fred Harrell’s City Church is also focused on anti-racism initiatives and supports other forms of social justice. As the senior pastor, Rev. Harrell preaches God’s word, casts the organization's vision, manages staff, and oversees other forms of pastoral care. In the 25 years since he founded the church, he has worked to positively impact thousands of people from different facets of life. Further, Fred Harrell is a recipient of The Reformation Project's Pastoral Courage Award. He was given this award due to his efforts to include the LGBTQIA+ community in his congregation. He has also spearheaded the establishment of churches that affirm and welcome the LGBTQ community.
