Operating out of Germany and Indonesia respectively; conducting research on eBook project concerned with national health and nutrition issues in the context of globalisation (ongoing); concurrently advising a German IT company on health and nutrition issues in the course of iOS App development (finished).

At the provincial Emergency Refugee Camp, Gelsenkirchen, Northrhein-Westphalia heading a multinational team of counsellors engaged in advising and caring for refugees asking for asylum. This implies managing the facilitation of some 300 refugees, guiding and organising the work of a 24-hour team working in 3 shifts. Liaising with and reporting to municipal and provincial government institutions. Developing integration programme activities in collaboration with local NGOs, volunteers, and concerned citizens.

Devising, leading, and reporting on, a multi-year qualitative programme evaluation, which comprised designing, managing, training and supervising eight research teams from multiple disciplines working each in eight selected cities throughout the Indonesian archipelago. The final report documented varying levels of progress in distinct sectors of programme intervention and revealed strategic needs of change in programme implementation.

Advising the UNICEF/UNORC Information Analysis Section, IAS in Banda Aceh, Indonesia); producing and presenting the UNORC/BRR 2nd Tsunami Recovery Indicators Package (TRIP) Report. In introduced socio-geographic aspects (including meaningful use of GIS techniques) into the monitoring and reporting framework and thereby made the report more analytical in comparison to the first version.

Assisting in conceptual orientation of the new “Directorate for Social Resilience Statistics”(Statistik Ketahanan Sosial), developing tools for region-specific statistical poverty assessment (East Sumba). After conclusion of this long-term assignment BPS entered the continuation of activities regarding further development of local-specific vis-à-vis national statistics into its annual and long-term statistical development plan. This included allocation of a respective budget for these activities.

Advising UNICEF Jakarta on district level data analysis), Jakarta/Makassar, Indonesia; developing a model district-level Situation Analysis of Women and Children (Analisis Situasi Ibu dan Anak, Tingkat II) in Bone, South Sulawesi, which was later applied, with appropriate adjustments, to all districts receiving UNICEF assistance.

Documenting and preparing publication of “The Family-in-Focus Approach - developing policy-oriented monitoring and analysis of human development in Indonesia.” This approach resulted from my previous multi-year work at UNICEF Jakarta, Indonesia

Co-ordinating the Planning and Social Statistics Programme, Indonesia Country Office, United Nations Children's Fund. Collaborating closely with various government agencies regarding social indicator development, improvement of various national survey and reporting instruments; developing and administrating independent programme budgets; supervisory and high level representational duties. Developing an interagency approach to life-span based cross-sectoral social information management.

Participating in FAO Mission on Agribusiness Development in Indonesia). As member of a multi-disciplinery team conducting a rapid assessment of the prevailing social situation in the agricultural/horticulture (sub-)sector in five sample areas.
