Research Assistant
Center for Industrial Mathematics, University of Bremen
As a research assistant at the Center for Industrial Mathematics of the University of Bremen, my work concerned mathematical research in the field of inverse problems. In particular, my research focus was the study of the regularization properties of Tikhonov functionals with the assumption of tolerances in the solution.
6 Monate, Jan. 2015 - Juni 2015
Graduate Research Assistant
Foundation for Research and Technology - HELLAS
I worked as a research assistant in the group of CardioVascular Biomechanics Lab at the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics. I was appointed to explore the capabilities of LifeV (an open-source C++ library for the numerical solution of PDEs using FEM) and its potential use for the numerical solution of complex problems in the field of computational hemodynamics. During that time, I was responsible for installing the library in a computer cluster and create documentation for test problems.

Student Internship
Foundation for Research and Technology - HELLAS
As an intern at the institute of applied and computational mathematics, I was able to gain knowledge in the field of optimal control. In particular, I studied Kalman filtering for system state estimation given noisy measurements.

Ph.D. in Industrial Mathematics
University of Bremen
During my doctoral studies, I specialized in the field of inverse problems. My work concerns the regularization of ill-posed inverse problems with the assumption of tolerances and sparsity in the searched solution. My research topic has allowed me to gain a deep mathematical foundation of Tikhonov regularization (ridge regression), l1-regularization (LASSO), and elastic net regularization (stabilized version of LASSO), all of which are nowadays commonly used in machine learning.
