Glenn Jenkins

I am a senior developer at DigiTickets. I write new modules, maintain existing modules, mentor junior staff, and take part in discussions about new features, the the design of the system, and tools we might use. I am focused more on the server side, but I do a significant amount of front end coding. The product is a ticketing system, which has various components: CMS for config, reporting, etc; online shop; EPOS (for sales and redemptions); Trade Portal (for 3rd parties to sell tickets).

I was using the Google Analytics API to produce reports and graphs of user activity for clients. Unfortunately, after 6 weeks I was made redundant (not my fault!).

I was brought in to help maintain and enhance the company's language teaching system. However, things didn't work out and I left after 6 weeks.

The company provided public Wi-Fi. I helped to maintain the system, write new modules, fix bugs, etc. I became the team leader, and manged the small team of developers. I liaised with the Managing Director, the marketing department and technical support.

Footwork maintained an application called Halo, which was used by drug and alcohol teams to record the treatment of clients, and a health and safety training system. I built new features, maintained the code, supported my colleagues, and helped plan future features. The technology was PostgreSQL, PHP, Apache, Linux, Git, and of course HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery. Later on I became the team leader, which involved coordinating the work of my colleagues and liaising closely with the Managing Director.

I worked as a freelancer for many companies, writing systems in Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports, using Oracle 7. The contracts lasted from 3 months to 2 years.

The company provided computer systems for local government. The systems included Environmental Health, Planning and Building Control, Council Tax benefits, and many others. I progressed from junior programmer to senior programmer.
