Developed Payala: a system that enables offline payments during disasters via mobile phones and Java Cards. I'm primarily responsible for the Android App (along with iOS via Kotlin Multiplatform) and Java Card code, which connect to our web backend when appropriate. The emphasis of my work here is on establishing best practices for the eventual enlargement of the team, CI/CD, and usability across different levels of tech literacy and cultural conventions.

Developed Hilfsmittel Box (a.k.a. CareBox): a web app for managing government applications for reimbursement of care-related supplies (e.g. gloves, masks) and recurring shipments of those supplies. I rewrote it as a microservice after its initial version, integrated in a web app, had proven successful (see additional work experience entries below). The emphasis of my work here is on supporting third-party usage of the api via adherence to standards, proper documentation, and thorough tests.

Programmed Lex: a social networking app for queer people. I had many duties here, from working on their already successful mobile app (via React Native), updating the underlying backend, and writing an admin tool from scratch. The goals during my time here were to empower the Customer Support team, optimize a running system (e.g. database performance, load times), and create a system to enable rapid, live testing of potential new features (e.g. group chats).

Developed Pflegekurse: a web app for online courses relating to assisted living (e.g. finding professionals in your area, determining your rights, and access to gov't funding). I was the lead developer and maintainer. My focus was on flexibility as there were a dozen variants of the app branded to different insurers with a plethora of toggleable features. I also wrote a number of prototype apps. Some succeeded (see Hilfsmittel Box), some became features of Pflegekurse, and others were merely educational.

Developed Offtime: a mobile app which helps manage your phone usage (e.g. screen time, focus mode). I revisited the company to expand the initial prototype and prepare them for the growth of their software team. Notable parts of my work included using advanced phone features and permissions to block calls/apps selectively, auto respond intelligently, and track usage statistics for the user. Also architectural planning for reorganising servers and databases to enable cross-device functionality.

I wrote the website Curendo which initially hosted informational content and a prototype of the aforementioned Pflegekurse (see above). During this time, my focus was on pushing it to an audience-ready state, with our company as its only host (see above for its expansion to various health insurers).

My primary task was the building of an Android application for use in hospitals and clinics encompassing patient treatment and equipment logistics. As the company specialised in business consulting and had only recently begun software development, a major role was establishing the use of best practices and tools for coding, deployment, and testing.
