Jan Willem van den Broek

As my first LEAD assignment I am currently working as Donor Relations Adviser for UNDP in New York. I support UNDP senior management in the mobilization of core resources by maintaining effective working relations with relevant Liaison Offices and Governments of Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Australia and New Zealand. Furthermore I identify and develop opportunities for non-core resource mobilization and advise UNDP country offices and headquarters units.

During 2007 and 2008 I set up and headed the “Growing Sustainable Business” programme or GSB for the UNDP in Malawi. This programme aims to engage the private sector in poverty reduction through the expansion of employment and livelihood opportunities, and the development of new products and services addressing the needs of the poor. My role in this programme was to broker and facilitate linkages between large businesses, potential international investors and local partners.

In 2006 I was Head of KTA Regional Office Gjilan, part of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo in former Yugoslavia. I managed a team of 4 internationals and 17 local staff responsible for the initiation, management, negotiation and closing of privatisation transactions of formerly socially owned enterprises (SOE's) in this region. In 2005 I was working as a Transaction Officer for KTA Regional Office in Prizren (one of the five regions in Kosovo).

As a senior consultant with Davinci Groep, I had to build and maintain my own network of clients and bring in my own assignments. I reported directly to clients’ board of directors on more than 20 projects and lead project teams up to 25 members and coached junior consultants on the project.
