Mentoring of bachelor- and master students during internships and preparationof their theses, and during the 3-week internships “Signal transduction in bacteria”.Service for cell disruption machines (French Press, Sonification, maintenance instructions). PhD thesis: “Insights into biofilm formation of Bacillus subtilis” We used micro-, molecular-, cell biological and biochemical methods to get insights into the process of decision-making for different lifestyles of B. subtilis.

Analysis of SinR mutants for DNA binding and protein-protein interaction Purification of various mutants of the master regulator of biofilm formation in B. subtilis, SinR and its antagonist proteins by using Äkta gel filtration systems. These SinR variants were analyzed by Fluorescence Polarization for their DNA binding and protein-protein interaction abilities.

Strain design of Trichoderma reesei production strains and identification of an uncharacterized strain collection.

Master thesis: “Insights into cyclic-di-AMP transporters and potential physical interaction partners of the signal nucleotide” Analysis of the essential c-di-AMP signal transduction pathway via micro-, molecular biological and biochemical methods. We found and described a new interaction partner of the essential signal nucleotide c-di-AMP in B. subtilis.

Cloning and Isolation of regeneration factors from Hydra Vulgaris

“Insights into Mammalian Sirt6 Function on Cellular Response” I have elucidated the biological function of sirtuins in the formation of stress granules. In particular, I was concentrating on the not well characterized SIRT6 and its role in the assembly of stress granules.
