Leading an international team of engineers across Germany, Spain, and the UK. We own Amazon's internal web applications ensuring the IT landscape in operation is healthy – Java backend, TypeScript frontend, deployed on AWS – used daily by operations staff worldwide. My focus: hiring and developing strong engineers, keeping systems reliable at scale, and shipping features that matter.

Apache Member since 2015 – one of roughly 800 members who help govern the foundation. Started as Struts2 Committer in 2009, later joined the Project Management Committee (PMC). Created the Struts2 jQuery and Bootstrap plugins, which became widely adopted for integrating modern UI frameworks into Struts applications. Still involved in release management and project decisions.

10 years at a regional energy provider, growing from developer to software architect to project lead. Built SAP, Java/JEE web applications and IBM WebSphere Portal solutions. Owned SAP integrations that connected core business systems. Key project: Led development of a company-wide project management platform (Java, Struts2, PostgreSQL, jQuery, Bootstrap) – my first experience building a product from scratch for hundreds of internal users.

Founded a startup with the goal of building a marketplace connecting local German wineries directly with customers. Built the full platform myself – Java backend (Struts, Spring, Hibernate, PostgreSQL), Bootstrap/jQuery frontend. The marketplace didn't scale as planned, but the project taught me how to ship a product end-to-end: from idea to architecture to customer-facing features. The site still runs as a wine blog today.

Built online shops for enterprise clients during the early e-commerce years (2000-2003). Full-stack development on IBM WebSphere, Java, and DB2. Handled the hard parts: payment gateway integrations, logistics system connections, and making sure everything worked before launch. First experience working directly with clients – translating business needs into technical solutions under real deadlines.

Completed approximately half of the program while working full-time. Paused to focus on career and hands-on experience.
