Joost Nuijten

On 23 and 24 May 2008 the European Movement International brought together the heads of the EU institutions and civil society to discuss the future of Europe. I supported the EMI staff in the days leading up to and during the event.

Teaching guest course “Uniting the European family”: Teaching 15 year old High School students from a special “European track” the basics of the workings, history and characteristics of a united Europe and the EU, as a weekly guest teacher. The course was taught in English.

The European Movement is the largest European civil society network. During my traineeship at this NGO I worked in the Projects Department. I was mainly working on financial and qualitative reporting to the European Commission and writing of material on the Europe wide debating campaign “Speak up Europe” as well as the network’s 9th of May celebrations. I also contributed to EU grant applications, occasional research on policies and did general administrative work.
