I coordinate 6 development teams counting together some 20 staff in the IT department of a large public sector organisation in Brussels. My responsibilities are (the most important): I am the watchdog of the planning; I am in charge for the distribution of resources among the teams; I am the interface and moderator between my unit and the business users; I report to the higher management.

Manager of IT projects (under the federal guidelines for IT development process framework: V-Modell-XT). Preparation and monitoring of calls for tenders. Writing of concepts. Management of specialised databases and information systems. Communication between IT and stakeholders.

Actively involved in the establishment of ePortas GmbH. Raised start-up funds. In charge of writing the Business Plan. Responsible for IT-Project Management and IT Customer Acquisition. The crisis in the IT sector in Germany (starting in 2001) resulted in a sharp decline of orders and contracts. As the economic situation in Germany worsened, we closed the company.

Largely responsible for the development and maintanance of the German information system for plant genetic resources PGRDEU; participated to large IT development projects (national and international); was a member of the IT Advisory Group of the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI, today Bioversity, Rome); participated as an expert to several development aid projects of the German Goverment in Latin America; teached once a year IT and Internet basics to foreign students.

Developed an information system for the genebank documentation which was largely in use until 2003.

Responsible for the development of the first Cuban database of plant genetic resources. In charge of the design of a database structure in collaboration with all PGR holding institutions of the country. Development of a management software (information system).

Mathematical foundations of computer sciences (master thesis: "theoretical survey on conditional term rewriting systems"); mathematical analysis; theoretical physics; philosophy.
