As a tour guide, my task is to make DESY's research accessible to the general public. My activities include giving a presentation introducing the various aspects of research performed at DESY, followed by giving a guided tour of some of the machines, explaining their functionality and purpose. The audience ranges from High-School students to retired seniors, including also religious groups, foreign dignitaries and active researchers.
As a PhD Candidate, my responsibility is to perform cutting-edge research on topics in theoretical physics. This is done both, in a small, focused team and individually. This research has lead to four peer-reviewed journal articles, with publication in a high-impact general interest journal (PRL). My advisor is Wilfried Buchmuller. The title of my thesis is "Fermion Families and Soft Supersymmetry Breaking from Flux in Six Dimensions".
