Dr. Karin Sasaki

Member of the eLearning team of the EMBL International Centre for Advanced Training. Conceptualised and developed online training courses, spanning all research topics across the EMBL campuses and with the theme of mathematical modelling. Also helped developed and launch an EMBL-wide eLearning portal. Software: Adobe Captivate, Final Cut Pro, Animaker, Inkscape, GIMP and Whiteboard.

Ran the Centre for Biological Modelling. I assisted academics in creating mathematical models of their biological systems; I taught mathematics and programming and I helped enhance the social community of mathematicians.

Academic responsibilities included research in the subjects of molecular biology and the mathematical theory of knots; writing of scientific papers and dissemination of results at internal and international conferences. Mathematics Topics: Low dimensional topology. Molecular Biology Topics: DNA topology, mitochondrial DNA of trypanosomes and type-II topoisomerases.

My role consisted of carrying out comprehensive research and rigorous analysis to help provide evidence-based competitive insights and innovative solutions, with particular focus on the areas of Vaccines, IBD and generics.

Research in the subjects of molecular biology and the mathematical theory of knots; writing of scientific papers, both singled authored and in collaboration; dissemination of results at international conferences and academic visits.
