Lara Spies

Since August 1, 2023, I have been working as a trainee construction draftswomen specializing in civil/structural engineering at Implenia. My responsibilities include creating 3D models as well as various types of technical drawings, such as reinforcement drawings, general arrangement drawings, and formwork drawings, which serve as the basis for construction on site.

A short insight from Guangzhou: At the trade fair, I was responsible for the overall appearance of our exhibition booth and had the opportunity to engage in many interesting conversations with international contacts. Additionally, I visited a carbide manufacturing facility in Chengdu, gaining valuable insights into modern production processes.

Worked as an assistant coach for youth hockey teams (ages 4–10) for six years, supporting training sessions and team development.

During my six-week internship at a carpentry internship, I gained comprehensive insights into the daily work of a carpenter. I was able to take on a variety of tasks and gain hands-on experience in woodworking – an exciting experience that significantly enhanced my practical skills and understanding of craftsmanship.

During this internship, I was able to further develop my skills in drafting plans using AutoCAD. Additionally, I participated in several site visits to gain practical insights into workflows and processes on construction sites.

During my internship, I had the opportunity to design my own dream house both by hand and using CAD software. Additionally, I participated in on-site visits and took measurements directly on location. This was an exciting hands-on experience that significantly deepened my understanding of construction planning and execution.

During my stay in Auburn, Alabama (USA), I worked in the Human Resources department. My responsibilities included organizing and maintaining personnel files as well as creating and preparing Excel spreadsheets. It was an exciting experience that allowed me to gain valuable insights into HR processes and American workplace culture.
