Leonardo Di Chiara

For the social value of his works, Leonardo Di Chiara was awarded the “Premio Berlino 2017”, a prestigious prize given by the Italian Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to young and talented Italian architects. The prize gives him the chance to develop a research in collaboration with GRAFT Architekten during a six-months residency in Berlin supported by Italian Embassy.

Named “aVOID”, it is the first mobile “tiny house” built in Italy, and the first in the world designed in the shape of a terraced house. Assembled on a trailer, the 9m2 living space is fully equipped with every comfort integrated in a seemingly empty void — its namesake — where all the furniture is folded into the walls just like a Swiss Army knife. aVOID was designed by Leonardo Di Chiara involving more than 30 technical sponsors.
