    Topic: Investigations on improving the process convergence in ion beam figuring Ion Beam Figuring (IBF) is used as the final step in the processing of optical functional surfaces with the highest demands on accuracy . In this process, an ion beam is used as a tool. The spot of the ion beam is significantly smaller in diameter than the surface to be machined. It is guided over the surface by means of dwell time control in such a way that shape defects are reduced locally.
