• Develop research tactics and strategies within budget / time constraints; transition competencies in ceramics, glasses, polymers, metals to SSL applications; participate in active research • Supervise a group of scientists, engineers and technical associates, oversee department labs to ensure performance and meet various requirements

•Lead projects related to next generation light conversion schemes in LEDs: - scattering control in various solid light converters for better color, higher efficacy and lumen output (CEO recognition award) - pilot production • Evaluate potential breakthrough-technologies for future R&D or acquisition • Initiate and manage joint res. efforts with univ./companies for reducing R&D costs • Company-internal consulting (R&D depts, Marketing, Legal) • Write/contribute to proposals (Dept. of En. awards)

• Act as a liaison between Osram Sylvania Central R&D, Osram Opto Semiconductors, Osram R&D and Siemens Corporate Technology for coordinated research efforts • Develop novel conversion-LED solutions to access new applications with high lumen output • World class efficacy and lumen records achieved through experiments and analysis

• Develop UV-VIS-IR spectroscopy / measurements laboratory; design and construct experiments and testing setups; establish clean room facilities • Conduct research and testing of phosphors, semiconductors and other optical materials • Initiate and organize joint research efforts with various universities / companies for accessing skill / equipment. • Lead/participate in projects for advanced material properties such as longer lifetime, higher efficacy and lumen output in new/conventional light urces

• Manage the organization from start-up, lead business development and projects (1992-1993) • Seek and manage EU and local government funding for product development programs • Develop new business contacts and partnerships, recommended technologies for use (co-owner, 1993-2007)
