- Understanding the problem: Screening of literature addressing the unit commitment problem and the different methods for solving.it. - Adjustement to modeling (large-scale) mixed integer linear and quadratic optimization problems and solving them with commercial solvers (CPLEX). Implementation in MATLAB models of thermal and hydro generation units. - Documentation of methos and results.

- Research and comparison of recent approaches for load modelling of residential customers. - Further development of a MATLAB model to generate daily load curves based on electric household appliances. - Adaption of the choice of distribution functions for market penetration, frequency of use, turn-on-time, duration of use and power consumption. - Validation by measurement data of Smart Meters. - Creation of a user-friendly interface for the scenarion selection.

An overview of the wind energy (components, companies, etc) and the new technologies. Finally, focused in electrical drives. 20 hours.

One week in each University, working spanish and german students in couples. Finally, we had to build a Lego robot for a "sumo competition". 80 hours.
