There is no such thing as an actual "beat" reporter anymore. The industry has changed and requires reporters to do more with less, so I basically do it all, from covering my beat of courts and cops to county, to enterprise, to writing a column, to features and more. After 2 years as a news editor in South Florida, I came to realize that reporting is the only thing I want to do in this industry. I climbed the ladder early in career, but came to realize that field work is what I love.
