Researched topics: staff scheduling and rostering problems; hospitality management. Lectured practical classes of the “Operational Research” course, in the Masters in Electrical and Computers Engineering and Masters in Mechanical Engineering programs. Prepared and evaluated final and intermediate examinations of the course students. Published 2 papers in international scientific journals (third paper under revision). Presented scientific work in 12 international and national conferences and seminars.

Led an eco-efficiency improvement program for SMEs, with a team of energy and environmental consultants.Managed the Portuguese participation in the EU-funded project “Green Lodges”, which aimed at the dissemination of renewable energy and micro CHP systems in rural lodges.Performed energy audits in 10 Portuguese rural lodges. Developed campaigns to increase the awareness of schools, firms and population towards sustainability-related matters. Developed applications for national and EU-funded projects.

Managed the quality, environmental, occupational health and safety management systems certification processes of more than 200 clients, from different activity sectors: transports, electrical systems, electronics, telecommunications, software, commerce. Analyzed technical audit reports and client improvement action proposals. Participated in audits of quality management systems. Assisted in the management of the pool of auditors.
