Analyzed immune responses of AML patients after GVAX therapy. I identified and validated antibodies against angiogenic proteins. My work demonstrates that patients who developed antibody responses against several angiogenic proteins have a prolonged survival, opening new possibilities to treat cancer. To analyze serum antibodies in cancer patients I established an ELISA. I taught this technique to 3 researchers in 2 other labs at DFCI and MGH where it has been applied to additional projects.

To improve current vaccines that aim to induce TAA-specific CTL, it is necessary to study the role of CD4 Th and CD4 Treg cells. I analyzed T-cell responses against survivin and proteinase 3 using synthetic peptides predicted to serve as HLA-DR–restricted epitopes.
