I've always been a curious type, and working with video producers on a wide variety of productions across many sectors satisfies that 'wanting to know how it works'. I moved to recording voiceover several years ago after a thirty-year career as a sound engineer in live and recorded television, with a bit of film thrown in too (as a recording mixer and boom operator). Basically, I've been around microphones and media production my entire adult life, so moving to the 'noisy' side of the microphone felt quite natural. That same curiosity has led me to shoot, edit and otherwise produce a series of videos on the building of my home-based recording studio, which I have been posting to my Youtube channel 'Sound Sense'. It started as a project to document the process just for fun, then became a little more than that, then led me to learn how to use high-end video software (DaVinci Resolve) to produce these videos. As I said, I'm a curious type - it makes life interesting, doesn't it?
