Responsible for reducing exposure to supplier risk in the indirect area through driving Procurement activity in assessing, managing, and mitigating supplier risk. Establishing strategic leadership by setting direction and managing the Japan Procurement organization, ensuring that all sourcing strategies and projects are defined and successfully executed and fully implemented – including best practices across the sourcing life-cycle, key stakeholder alignment and customer satisfaction in Japan.

Led Procurement Division and all its activities throughout Japan. Ensured collaborative relationships with business leaders in production, research and development, pharmaceutical operations, vaccines, animal health, orphan diseases, joint ventures, generics, and OTC divisions based on trust and mutual understanding of needs. Served as member of Japan’s Corporate Council and Global Operations Leadership Team, Regional Management Team, Global Procurement Leadership Team, and Japan Compliance Committee.

Directed all sourcing from third party sources for BI Japan and its subsidiaries, including SS Pharmaceuticals Co Ltd (SSP). Ensured the stable qualitative supply and maintenance of required materials at three major production facilities for the manufacture of ethical drugs, OTC products, and stamina drinks. Responsible for overseeing optimization of cost of goods and capital expenditure performance at all BI Japan operations centers. Served as member of Japan`s EHS Board and Operations Committee.

Directed the sales activities of affiliates in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. Created strategy manuals for the sales force and trained them to point out weaknesses in competitor’s products resulting in increased market penetration. Directed adaptation of forklift design options to accommodate needs of the Japanese market. Negotiation of joint venture agreements.

Directed the establishment of the Tokyo subsidiary. Won major key clients in the Kanto region. Introduced German delicacies, sweets and non-alcohol wines to the Japanese market. Successfully developed new cake recipes in partnership with German vendor.

Responsibility for P&L, marketing, facility management, recruiting, people development, succession planning, and supply chain management.

Provided basic, intermediate, and advanced instruction in German and English at language institutes including the Kokusai Language School (Shinjuku), the Robert Language School (Harajuku), the GET Language School (Ichikawa), Sanwa Bank (Motoyawata), and Yamatake Engineering (a division of Honeywell).
