The term “Technology-Mediated Control” (TMC) labels the use of information technology to support or even substitute the function of managers. I investigate how TMC can be shaped to align the interest of businesses to efficiently and effectively exercise control with protecting workers from negative socio-emotional consequences and the erosion of their rights.
