Mike Prentice

Psychology of Communication and New Media, Human-Computer-Media Institute. Led research on how Big Five personality traits shape trust, emotional responses, and acceptance of AI tools. Taught English-language research seminars and practica on materialism, media influence, life aspirations, and well-being.

Departments of Psychology and Biology. Taught Scientific Communication in English and graduate research seminars and practica in consumer and media psychology.

Everyday Media Lab. Worked on a DFG-funded project on ambient awareness in social media, collaborated on a multi-lab six-wave longitudinal dataset on AI perceptions and use, and informally advised four PhD students.

Rationality Enhancement Group, Tuebingen. Designed and evaluated digital interventions for goal setting, self-regulation, and well-being, including gamified apps and field experiments. Co-authored a synthesis on promoting well-doing and mentored PhD students through the International Max Planck Research School.

Department of Psychology. Taught Introduction to Psychology, Personality Psychology, Psychometrics, and R for psychological research. Also a Visiting Research Scholar in the Department of Engineering, contributing to a character education initiative in engineering.

The Beacon Project, a Templeton-funded program on moral exceptionality. Studied how people perceive the traits and motives of morally exceptional individuals, ran experience sampling work on moral need satisfaction, and co-developed and validated the Moral Character Questionnaire.

Department of Psychology. Conducted research on values, psychological needs, and well-being, and taught the general linear model, an introduction to SAS, a PhD seminar on motivation in social interaction, and the bachelor thesis seminar.

Faculty appointment in the Department of Psychology. Taught Health Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, a motivation seminar, a two-semester research methods and statistics sequence, and the senior research experience.

Graduate minor in Psychological Statistics and Methods. Dissertation on values, situational need construals, and well-being received the Distinguished Dissertation in the Social Sciences award.

BA in Psychology with Honors, double major in Philosophy, cum laude. Study abroad at the Denmark International Study Program (DIS) and the University of Copenhagen in 2006.
