Mikko Linnamäki

Today, Mikko is Co-Founder of DOVECOT OY, the company behind the most popular open-source email server of the world: Dovecot IMAP Server. At Dovecot, Mikko takes care of strategic alliances, business development, commercialization of the products and Investors.

Mikkos investment company Smartseed GmbH invests in promising startup companies (Current portfolio: Dovecot, Next Level Radio, Glassplay) and helps them with expertise in building of startups and helping to find investors and management from a large network of 1st class business people.

Since 2002 til end of 2012 Mikko was founder and CEO of Liquid Air Lab GmbH, which built the world’s largest network of mobile apps for Radio Stations, developing over 1.700 apps for iPhone, Android, Blackerry and Nokia Phones for many of the best brands on radio. Over 50 million people have downloaded these apps from the app stores, and the apps deliver over 240 million ad impressions per month over the adplace.com ad network platform. Liquid Air Lab was sold end of 2011 in an M&A transaction.

In 1993, Mikko founded Hexmac Software Systems AG, one of the first European Internet Software companies. After seeing the first Mosaic browser and later the Netscape Navigator, Mikko realized the demand for tools for HTML and Web publishing. In 1995 HexMac launched HexWeb XT, which allowed print publishers to convert their QuarkXPress print publications to HTML without the need to write code. More products followed and the company was sold to a large German publisher in 2001.

In 1999 Mikko founded Buchungsmaschine AG, a real-time travel booking engine, which was acquired by Travel24.com in the year 2000 just 14 months after it’s founding. United Internet AG was the VC investor in Buchungsmaschine AG.
