Olga Šturalo

This is my first working experience in Finland. I am working as a maid in a hotel. This position requires fast work and high attention to the details, as poor execution will lead to bad customer experience. I also believe this position will let me integrate in Finnish society and improve language knowledge.

This is my project based employment, I wrote my Master’s Thesis for Seepia Games Oy. Thesis title “Measuring Effectiveness of Marketing Message: The Role of Verbal, Visual and Brand Elements”.

This was a fixed-term assignment via University recruiting. The main responsibility was to collect the contact information of University's alumni, partners, other stakeholders, etc. After collecting and systematising the information, the mailing packages were prepared and sent.

I was an active salesperson in the pet shop; I was helping and consulting customers. Also I improved my knowledge in accepting new products, price tagging and inventory, got to know warehouse work and was taking care of animals. I introduced social media marketing for the shop – created a social network page and updated it on daily basis, communicated with customers, answered their questions, etc. Due to this fact, a number of new ‘fans’ and loyal customers were acquired.

I was a cashier-seller at this position – I was supervising the whole pet shop on my own. This experience taught me to be responsible and attentive to the details; I learned how to use cash register. Also I was consulting customers, taking care of animals, etc. I learned how to accept new products, tag prices and run the inventory. My job was also run the accounting of the shop on daily basis.

At this position I developed my communicational skills, as I was meeting and serving big number of customers every day. I learned to work in challenging situations and react quickly. I also improved my skills of working in team.
