I have recently made the leap into the private sector. Here I work with a team of data scientists aiming at exploring innovative data science methods and applying them into non-automotive fields. I perceive the environment in the private sector as rather stimulating.

Here I worked as a computational biologist with focus on data science and bioinformatics. Apart from teaching (bioinformatics, statistics, genetics, ecology, zoology),I supervised and worked directly on research projects that tackled wild-life genomics, disease transmission models, next-generation DNA sequencing, analysis of large datasets and data-mining.

Here I worked as a lecturer and scientific coordinator of a medium-sized workgroup focusing on Immunogenetics. My focus was data-mining, bioinformatics and statistics.

Here I was the scientific coordinator of the network project “Olfactory choice of partners – immune system, smell receptors and their adaptive importance for mammal health”

Here I performed genotyping and statistical analyses in a large-scale genotyping project of MHC genes on voluntary bone marrow donors for the Brazilian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (local database with around 110,000 stem cell donors)
