Siemens Information Systems from Mumbai undertook a translation project for SAP in Waldorf, Germany. The entire background material of SAP's software module RIVA was translated by a team of 5 persons from India. Four of them were software engineers of SISL, whereas I was the language specialist and responsible for the final version of the translated material. Man hours spent by me during the year were 2000.

After the German reunification in 1989, a number of East German conglomerates were privatized under the privatization initiative by Treunhand. One such project was the privatization of the Conglomerate Germania in Chemnitz. The chairman of the company taking over was Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee. I was a member of the two man takeover team of the new owners supervising the activity of the new management of Germania.

In this position I coordinated the translocation of a mammoth Sponge Iron Plant (Norddeutsche Ferrowerke) in Emden (Germany) to Hazira Port on the West Coast of India. The new owners of the plant were Essar Steel from India, who built a steel plant, of which this sponge iron plant was the starting pooint. The total duration of the project was 27 months. Disciplines looked after by me were project coordination, site administration, finance, public relations and everything else that was needed.

E. Merck, being a German company had to submit a substantial amount of research reports and other data related to new drugs to the Indian authorities. A huge amount of material had to be translated by a team of four translators. I headed the translation activity. Our work was also used in other Engllish speaking countries like Canada, New Zealand etc
