Berufserfahrung von Prasanth Velvaluri

  • Bis heute 1 Jahr und 6 Monate, seit Mai 2025

    Postdoctoral Researcher - Biomedical Microtechnology

    IMTEK, University of Freiburg

Trained on ISO13485 for Medical Device Design and Development Control. Developing next-generation neurovascular implants using NiTi thin-film shape-memory materials. Built COMSOL workflows for programmable SMA folding, enabling ~67% device miniaturization and catheter delivery through <1 mm systems. Fabricated structured, stress-free NiTi thin films using maskless lithography and angled sputtering. Also initiating integration of magnetoelectric antennas onto NiTi substrates for future wireless implant platf

  • 1 Jahr und 2 Monate, Mai 2024 - Juni 2025

Feodor-Lynen Research Fellow — Magnetoelectric Antennas

    Northeastern University

Designed and fabricated miniature exchange-biased magnetoelectric antennas for ultra-low-power wireless communication. Demonstrated 10× efficiency improvement and +2 dB gain vs. baseline devices. Established fabrication and testing pipelines (multilayer deposition, Xe-release etching, VNA-based RF characterization, field annealing). Published a co-first-author review and am developing a second co-first-author research paper.

  • 2 Jahre und 4 Monate, Jan. 2022 - Apr. 2024

Postdoctoral Researcher — Smart Implants & Thin-Film Microsystems

    Kiel University

Worked on TRL-3/4 smart implant technologies for neurovascular applications. Co-developed intrasaccular aneurysm implants enabling secondary coiling after deployment—a capability missing in commercial devices. Created helical thin-film implants for challenging vascular geometries and demonstrated catheter compatibility. Worked on magnetostrictive (FeCoBSi) based materials for high frequency applications to enhance ferromagnetic resonance by insulation using SiO2 intermediate layers. Colloborated with clini

  • 4 Jahre und 3 Monate, Okt. 2017 - Dez. 2021

Doctoral Researcher — Thin-Film NiTi Neurovascular Stents

    The University of Kiel

Developed patient-specific NiTi thin-film flow diverters (TRL-4) with comparable aneurysm flow reduction to commercial stents while preserving 100% side-branch perfusion (commercial devices reduce by ~98%). Pioneered origami-based thin-film implants (TRL-2) for compact catheter delivery. Built multiple mechanical testing rigs (compression, torsion, crimping, 3-point bending per ASTM). Collaborated with clinicians, Acquandas GmbH, and theoretical groups in the US and Germany. Published 5 papers (2 implant-fo

  • 2 Monate, Aug. 2019 - Sep. 2019

    Visiting research Scholar

    University of Minnesota

Worked on theoretical origami structures for implant applications. Developed origami prototypes using laser engraving on thin wood sheets.

  • 1 Jahr und 6 Monate, Apr. 2016 - Sep. 2017

Research Assistant — Thin-Film SMA Materials

    Acquandas GmbH

Assisted in the fabrication of free-standing NiTi and TiNiHf thin films for actuator and implant applications. Performed thermal and mechanical characterization (DSC, tensile testing), SEM analysis, RTA processing, and thin-film release. Developed understanding of composition-dependent transformation behavior in binary and ternary SMA systems.

  • 7 Monate, Sep. 2016 - März 2017

    Research Assistant — XPS Lab

    Kiel University

Performed X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy across multiple research projects. Handled sample prep, spectral acquisition, and chemical state analysis for thin films.
