Bis zu meiner Auswanderung nach Deutschland war ich 15 Jahre lang als Geschäftspartner eines Unternehmens im IT-Bereich tätig. Meiner Tätigkeiten in den letzten Jahren gehörte zu den Schwerpunkten meiner Aufgaben, die Kundenakquisition, Annahme, Prüfung und Weiterleitung eingehender Kundenaufträge, auch im Zusammenhang mit Vereinbarungen für Services und IT-Anlagen. Die enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen verschiedenen Arbeitsbereichen habe ich gerne und erfolgreich organisiert.

Managed the Infrastructure support Team for Samancor's 600 local and 300 remote users (12 branch offices). Resource management. Capacity and succession planning. Budget forecasting. Training and team mentoring. Performance appraisals. Management reports.

For Africa’s largest pay TV company, I developed a rollout and standardisation process of Windows95 and supervised the deployment on all user workstations at their local and international offices. The task comprised the automation of software management, removing illegal software, implementing security and optimising bandwidth over slow satellite links. User induction and usage policies were converted into electronic form and tied it to the rollout process.

Proposed and implemented operating systems and accounting solutions. Established IT policies and wrote procedure manuals to formalise and simplify IT infrastructures. Managed budgets, protecting existing investments. Conducted regular client and support team meetings aligning infrastructure services with growing IT demands. Products involved: Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, SQL and ISA Firewalls on Cisco based networks.

Support to the local IT Infrastructure as a support engineer for Novell and Windows server systems. 3rd line support to 1st line User Support Engineers

Installed and maintained server, computer, network systems and FAX distribution systems. E.g. Novell, PowerLAN, ccMail, Microsoft. Working closely and delivering on the salesman’s promise.

Promoted to manage the countrywide network and introduce email and internet to the local environment. Extend the AS/400 User Base by adding personal computers (SNA Sessions) to the IBM platform

Developed a Work in Progress system for the Automation division and an on boarding system for the PABX install and maintenance engineers. Developed in Clipper and dBase III

Installed and Maintained the Phillips range of UH45, UH900, MBX, TBX, Sopho-S and EBX telephone systems
