Dr. Renata Bommes

I am employed at the data science department of PRECIRE Technologies in Aachen, contributing to the development of speech analysis software. My work areas include: data analysis and processing for visualisation, frontend web development, database programming, software testing.

The research topic of my postdoctoral research was the extraction of feature graphs in points clouds and meshes.

I offered different courses in the context of the undergraduate program on System Analysis and Development. Ex.: Introduction to Computer Sciences, Data-Structures & Algorithms, Object-oriented Software Design, Relational Database Modelling, Database Management Systems, Multidimensional Data Modelling & Data warehouses, and Artificial Neural Networks. Besides my lectures I was also engaged in some administrative tasks at IFPE, including undergraduate program coordination and laboratory administration.

In my doctoral research I investigated the use of artificial neural networks for surface reconstruction and I proposed a novel model Self-organizing Map (SOM) with a Time Varying Structure.

During my master I investigated the used of neural networks, and in particular self-organizing maps, for surface reconstruction.

For my bachelor thesis I develop a web system for search and retrieval of documents in a digital library
