Master Thesis: Microbial Community Development in High Pressure Reactors for the Analysis of Crude Oil Biodegradation

Evaluated cryoprotectants for the preservation of anaerobic inocula for biogas potential studies; grew and monitored pure methanogen cultures to be used in biogas studies.

Created a 3-D model of underground utility lines from 2-D data; tested new software and developed workflows for model creation.

Investigated various catalysts for their efficiency of methane pyrolysis in a quartz glass reactor; led ad hoc projects in a timely and professional manner.

Sought solutions for high ammonia and nitrate concentrations in wastewater discharge; designed a rain garden and constructed it with other interns for Storrs Mansion in Hartford; mentored and led a high school intern throughout the summer.

Composed a legal response for a business requesting to collect and dispose electronic waste; researched pharmaceuticals to be recommended to be disposed of as hazardous materials; cataloged and filed hundreds of hazardous waste manifest forms for public availability.

Investigated the fate of silver nanoparticles in wastewater treatment plants; tested nutrient content in water runoff from porous concrete.

Provided soil fertility testing to hundreds of local residents, farmers, and businesses; Surveyed and collected data for biological control of the invasive Mile-A-Minute vine.
