Defined thin client concepts and paradigms, identified and selected core O/S and application features after visiting with customers to determine their needs, evaluated major H/W components. Designed network file I/O functions and implemented in C the Server Message Block (SMB) transport layer protocol, including DES encryption and MD4 hash, to allow HP’s Netstation 9.0 X terminal to boot from and access files on Microsoft NT Server 4.0. Netstations run a Unix-like threaded kernel developed at HP, based on WindRiver’s vxWorks 5.2, on a MIPS 4300 RISC embedded processor. Experience with gdb, ClearCase and DDTS.
