Sandra Maier

Our ambition for NCA is to offer a collection of handmade hats and accessories, exclusive yet with a contemporary approach. Each season I create a series of variable accessories that complement the hats and headpieces but can also stand alone. With a clear focus on craftsmanship and material research, I develop new techniques to be used f.ex. for statement necklaces, printed silk scarves, handwoven clutches and collars.

KAVIAR GAUCHE is an award-winning german womenswear brand with its focus on couture detailing and luxury fabrics. For the collections AW '14/15 and SS '15 I designed various styles for the commercial part of the collection as well as for the runway shows. Design and development of embroidery motifs and techniques is also part of my work as well as the development of exclusive semi-couture bridal gowns and evening dresses. KAVIAR GAUCHE shows its collections twice a year during paris fashion week.

I collaborated with JIL SANDER for pre-collection SS’13. As an assistant to the Head of Design Womenswear my responsibilities included research and samples, design, draping and patternmaking for a series of light woven pieces like tops, shirts and dresses. A special focus of my work was on details and elements like origami-style pockets, bows and belts. I was assisting the Head of Design for fittings and followed the development of the prototypes in terms of pattern and execution.

After 08/2011 I contributed as a freelance designer on a regular base, now with a clear focus on the more elaborated part of the collection like evening dresses and show pieces.

At ROBERTA FURLANETTO I performed in different roles and was involved in the whole process of creating the collection. My responsibilities included research and creative studies, draping and design in close collaboration with the Head of Design. Designing and developing embroideries, embellishments, appliqués and textile surfaces was a special focus of my work. I was assisting the headdesigner for fittings and was responsible for patternmaking, samples and prototypes.

Assistant to the head of patterndesign womenswear I had the opportunity to be involved in every step of the development of the womenswear collection, including patterncutting, execution of the prototypes and preparation of two runway shows in Paris.
