Research was associated to calculating the mass budget of dust in the Crab nebula. I developed an algorithm to apply edge detection (morphological aperture generation) for extended astronomical objects with slowly varying PSF wings and high noise dominated backgrounds.

In this PhD project, I will explore the chemistry of the different Galactic stellar populations and work to disentangle the properties of the distinct nucleosynthetic processes, with the aim of improving the understanding of the history of chemical enrichment of our Galaxy. To reach this goal I will help in developing the CHESS tool, which will make possible the homogeneous determination of chemical abundances in a sample of more than 10 000 late-type stars.
