Sebastian Schreck

For this project, Sebastian joined forces with a hyperscaler consulting team to support the large-scale cloud migration of a large Scandinavian bank using an innovative hyper-automation approach.

At Netlight, Sebastian excelled as an IT consultant and mentor, helping colleagues grow through guidance and leadership. He conducted over 50 technical interviews as a pilot interviewer. As a Delivery Coach, he supported consultants across roles and improved processes with data-driven insights. His role as Engagement Coach aligned deliveries with client expectations, while his initiative in organising Netlight's largest knowledge-sharing event exemplified his ability to drive collaboration and impact.

Sebastian supported the redesign of an IAM system to scale with future demands, contributing to a modern architecture. He connected engineers across teams and formed a focus group to advance system architecture and craftsmanship. Leading recruitment efforts, he hired internal engineers and championed clean code, CI/CD, and lean architecture. He enabled reusable solutions via innersource Python libraries with GitLab CI and automated pipelines.

Sebastian led a team to digitalise audit workflows, making processes faster, more thorough, and less error-prone. As part of the client’s global digitalisation initiative, the team worked on ETL processes for insurance claims data using Python, Docker, Azure. Sebastian managed stakeholder communication, fostered knowledge exchange solving shared challenges, and introduced best practices: CI/CD, automated dependency updates, vulnerability scans. He also oversaw compliance processes for tailored applications.

As a tech lead, Sebastian oversaw Python/React development, cross-team collaboration, and IT strategy alignment with the CTO and product leads. He briefly served as an interim PO and led the recruitment process, including technical interview rounds. Sebastian’s role advanced cross-functional teams, fostered collaboration, and helped scale the internal workforce for continued organisational success.

Sebastian joined a team transitioning from a monolithic Oracle-based application to MongoDB and Kafka for modernisation. He introduced agile routines, including pair programming and retrospectives, fostering team collaboration. Sebastian later evaluated architecture decisions for migrating legacy product pages and supported hiring senior backend engineers. He also contributed to automating dependency updates and refining team processes during modernisation initiatives.

Sebastian was engaged in the technical assessment of two target companies during an M&A process. This process required a thorough look into the available documentation and summarising the state of the current technical landscape of the companies as well as identifying potential risks and deriving recommendations for the interested investor in a concise presentation.

Sebastian worked on search and display features for a real estate platform and helped migrate on-premise services to AWS. Later, he joined a team automating a manual PoC solution, taking ownership of architecture and implementation for a serverless AWS cloud infrastructure. By automating processes, he streamlined the workflow and ensured scalability in the project's delivered solutions.

Sebastian modernised cloud operations at Mister Spex and strengthened platform security. He led the migration of core services, including the webshop, to the AWS cloud using IaC tools like CloudFormation and Ansible, automating deployments in a secure and scalable environment. To bolster security, he implemented measures against hacker attacks and shared expertise via internal workshops. His contributions improved operational efficiency and were presented at a public AWS event.

Sebastian contributed to Mister Spex’s growth by developing backend and frontend features for its e-commerce platform. He built the GlassAPI microservice, improving price calculation and feature configuration while decoupling the system landscape. Embracing DevOps principles, he transitioned to the infrastructure team, automating processes, enhancing security, and leading the AWS migration using IaC tools like CloudFormation and Ansible. His work improved scalability and empowered development teams.

At Mister Spex, Sebastian enhanced backend and frontend systems, and designed the GlassAPI, a microservice for pricing and feature configuration of glasses. This decoupled the ERP system from webshop downtime, ensuring uninterrupted logistics operations. By integrating the API, he created a scalable solution, bridging traditional backend and frontend roles. Sebastian drove cross-functional collaboration while customising the e-commerce platform to improve efficiency.

During my studies I worked at Mister Spex as QA, which was part of Product Management back then. My tasks included feature testing, exploratory testing, smoke tests, test design, user flow definition, release management, and test automation with selenium.
