Dr. Sergio Mojica

As a Field Application Scientist, I perform installations, demonstrations, and training to customers in academia, industry and goverment sites in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and other locations, primarily focused on the Cytation and Lionheart line of imagers.

Currently, I am providing technical support and scientific consultation on a range of Bio-Rad products, including: -- Biology education materials for high school and community college educators -- Standard and real-time PCR instruments and consumables/software; T100™ , S1000™ , C1000 Touch™, and CFX real-time amplification systems. -- Advanced Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Instruments; S3e™ Cell Sorter and ZE5™ Cell Analyzer

- Conducted independent research on anti-Chlamydia drug development by screening, optimizing, and characterizing small molecules targeting the bacteria. - Maintained collaborations with the chemistry department of Umeå University and elucidated the mechanism of a novel class of compounds that target the bacterial fatty acid synthesis pathway.

- Conducted experiments using established and state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques and cell culture to investigate the role of a novel type-iii-secreted effector in Chlamydia psittaci infection, dubbed dubbed Secreted Inner Nuclear Chlamydia protein (SINC). - Initiated and fostered a collaboration with scientists from Johns Hopkins University regarding the application and adaptation of the novel BioID technique in cell biology for the new purpose of investigating C. psittaci infection.
