- Analyzed circuit breaker operation with power electronic converters. - Two particular power electronic applications namely, variable frequency drive and static VAR compensator were considered for circuit breaker switching tests. - Observed and measured various stresses imposed on the circuit breaker in terms of recovery overvoltage, extended arcing times etc.

- Ascertained various stresses imposed on Vacuum circuit breakers in the medium voltage level while operating with power electronic applications such as variable frequency drives and FACTS devices - Proposed measures to mitigate the adverse effects of power electronics on the circuit breaker
