Research activities: ▪ Development and validation of the new Adriatic-Ionian REGional model (AIREG) based on NEMO (Nucleus for the European Modeling of the Ocean) at 1/45° horizontal resolution suitable for IBM clusters (IBM Power 6, IBM iDataplex). ▪ Design of the operational Adriatic-Ionian Forecasting System (AIFS) in the framework of TESSA Project Development of technologies for the “Situational Sea Awareness”. ▪ Collaboration and support on international projects.

Research activities: ▪ Design, development and parallel implementation of numerical algorithms for the numerical integration of the Navier-Stokes equations on multicore and hybrid architectures in the framework of Ecopyrogas-Industria 2015 Project.

Research activities: ▪ Development of a model for simulating floods over complex topographies, based on the numerical integration of the shallow water equations, using finite volume methods on 2D unstructured grids. ▪ Design, development and implementation of numerical algorithms for vector/parallel architectures, suitable for NEC SX and TX supercomputers. ▪ High performance computing techniques for simulating urban floods on scalar cache-based and vector symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) architectures.
