Leading a team of data scientists, meteorologists and software developers to de-risk the energy transition through the advancement of wind and solar forecasting.

Drove creation and commercialization of data-driven solutions focused on the needs of renewable energy stakeholders. Initiatives included: - parametric financial risk transfer for operating wind farms, - Battery energy storage system (BESS) monitoring and performance visualization, - deep-dive market analysis to inform wind + solar + BESS dispatch, - wind generation forecast improvement, and - day-ahead and realtime price forecast protoytyping in the California (CAISO) and Texas (ERCOT) power markets.

Technical reviewer for 500 MM USD wind turbine hardware procurement, as well as project specific supply agreements for the US and Canada; Technical Referent for Proxy Revenue Swap and Proxy Generation Agreements; SCADA and revenue analysis for over 400 MW of assets targeted for repowering, including ERCOT basis risk analysis; Collaboration with standards organizations (IEC) as well as international labs (NREL, DTU).

Special assignment to develop a topflight renewable energy assessment team serving the Asia Pacific region. Areas of focus included: Pre-construction wind and solar resource assessment (P50, P90, etc.); performance measurement according to international standards; remote sensing using globally-networked Sonic Detection and Ranging (SODAR) field units; and strengthening of relationships with major equipment manufacturers, financiers and energy developers active in the region.

Provided technical oversight and management. Due diligence support of energy transactions. Trained clients’ analysts as well as managed energy resource assessment and technical due diligence. Designed and conducted experiments in support of test engineering activity. Performed statistical modeling and spectral analysis in high-volume data environments.

Performed analysis of early and mid-stage wind development sites, including: site screening, fatal-flaw analysis, wind mapping using bespoke mesoscale numerical weather model output, and preliminary uncertainty assessments (P90, P75, P50, etc).

Technical lead for global wind resource assessment database development project; reviewed technical reports authored by Information Services Group before delivery to stakeholders; and provided technical expertise during warranty disputes.

Performed geospatial analyses using meso-scale wind map estimates in conjunction with anemometery data to support map sponsor’s wind farm siting efforts. Developed software for display of energy distributions and wind roses based on wind map estimates. Performed state-by-state biomass energy resource calculations for publication in Renewable Energy Atlas of the West: A guide to the Region’s Resource Potential (ISBN 0-9721568-0-1).

Trained staff and coordinated contract software developers during initial development of a fleet-wide wind turbine performance database; trained Data Analysis Group to perform energy loss calculations and assess plant-wide generation performance; developed short-term energy forecast methods using substation data and spectral analysis techniques; and provided technical oversight during implementation of web-based wind farm performance analysis suite developed by Insightful Corporation.

Monitored performance of wind power projects as a part of the U.S. Department of Energy and Electric Power Research Institute Turbine Verification Program. Developed database solution to warehouse and analyze performance data. Authored Technical Reports. Developed data management and analysis solutions in support of IEC 61400-12 power curve testing and other performance evaluation tasks. Commissioned wind farm Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system north of the Arctic Circle (Kotzebue, Alaska).
