Dr. Tafheem Masudi

As a PhD researcher cum project manager I lead several projects, bringing new innovative ideas and troubleshooting problems. During parts of the project I worked independently. Other parts of the project required to be a part of an energetic enthusiastic team.

I was responsible for teaching Biology to undergraduate students. This included preparation of lectures, handout material and conducting tests.

I mentored four Master's student projects bringing new ideas and pushing the projects in the right direction. Part of the project also involved teaching the student researchers new scientific techniques.

I was involved in projects related to neurodegenerative disorders. I was also a teaching assistant in several international workshops and was part of a team which organized several international conferences. In addition I also took responsibility to be a lab manager, managing the lab budget, ordering equipment’s and keeping excess costs in check.

During my PhD work I tried to understand how brain functions, focusing on the olfactory system. I used two photon microscopy and serial block face electron microscope to obtain data-stack of the adult olfactory bulb.

Aim of the first project was to study the regulation of vesicular glutamate transporter and motor neuron organization and development in Drosophila. Second project involved neuron - glia interactions and its impact at the neuromuscular junction of the drosophila larvae.
